Sunday Action in Germany Despite of returning snow an almost complete matchday could be played in Germany, for many the first full week. It was a weekend with mixed emotions. Obviously some would not be happy after the relegation battle between Tennis Borussia Berlin and SG Essen-Schönebeck. CWF sent two players to each team and oddly both had to play without one of them due to injury. On Essen’s side Brittany Timko will miss for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL, while for Berlin Amanda Feigt had to sit out with a pulled muscle. That way both sides played with defensive help from North America. For Essen it was Emily Zurrer and for Berlin Katarina Tarr who defended for their teams. Both went full 90 in their debut with Essen being the luckier team that maybe already got rid off relegation worries today after a 2-1 road win. After almost half an hour Essen scored the lead with Berlin scoring the equalizer almost straight afterwards. The shocker for the hosts happened in the last minute with young talent Sofia Nati scoring the game winner in stoppage time. SC Freiburg stays on the bottom of the standings with 6 pts in 14 games, also TeBe Berlin is on a relegation spot with as many points in 13 games – both chase 1.FC Saarbrücken on rank 10 that has 9 pts in 12 games. Essen Schönebeck climbed to rank 9 with now 13 games in 14 games.
She had to wait a while for the papers of the Italian authorities, then she had to wait two games before she got her chance to play - and she took it. In the Coppa Italia Selenia Iacchelli played her first game for ASD Torres against Lazio Rome and added the goal for the final score of 3-0.
Algarve Cup on the way with CWF players
Scurich scores first goal in Germany
The league action in Europe rested on the NT weekend. Only one of the CWF players was active in a re-scheduled game. TSV Crailsheim faced ASV Hagsfeld and it turned out to be a triple success for Allison Scurich: as team since they won 5-0, as defence organizer since they clinched a shutout, and as goal scorer when she marked the 4-0 after 70 minutes. Crailsheim is unbeaten since eight games now and climbed to third place in the standings.
Canada starts Cyprus Cup with win
Kelly Parker, Emily Zurrer and Candace Chapman were playing in Canada's opening win at the Cyprus Cup. The final score was 2-1 (1-1) against Switzerland. All three of them went full 90 minutes.
Canada vs Poland: Parker scores first NT goal, Timko tears ACL
Potsdam too strong for Freiburg
Scurich starts 2010 with a draw
Winter temperatures all over Germany, all games but one are canceled. The one exception hit Allison Scurich with TSV Crailsheim who had to play at Wacker Munich. To make the game possible it was moved to turf. The winning streak of the 2. Bundesliga team got snapped with a 1-1 (0-0) draw, but still they are undefeated since seven games now. The defence around Allison only allowed the second goal within this time span today.
Kia McNeil goes to Atlanta Beat

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS FROM GÜTERSLOH
With his agency 3G Sports Olaf Goldbecker sends female soccer players to top clubs
Two Canadian players support SG Essen-Schönebeck, one player from the US and one from Canada go to SC Freiburg, two Americans sign with Tennis Borussia Berlin – there is lots of movement in Women’s Bundesliga. And who is responsible for that? A guy from Gütersloh. “The winter break went well”, says Olaf Goldbecker. The 33 year old successfully entered the international transfer business with his company 3G Sports.
From 2004 to 2009 Goldbecker was Team Manager at FC Gütersloh. Here he gained lots of contacts (“I always put emphasis on communication with other clubs”) and collected first experiences with transfers. The Californian Erica Janke was the first American he got over to FC Gütersloh in 2007. “With her we would have clinched the promotion”, regrets Goldbecker that she returned to the States after only half a year. Forward Lauryn Welch followed 2008. Defender Lisa Gebhard is in her second season in Gütersloh – now at FSV though.
Separating from FCG also meant a cut for Olaf Goldbecker. He stepped back and only supports the new club in the areas Internet and club paper. Instead he enforced other activities – like founding a Summer League and the area of Consulting. He even had a job offer from a US pro league club in sight but the transaction failed when the GM was exchanged.
Instead Goldbecker searched the contact to a guy whose name crossed his path several times – Khaled El Ahmad. The in Sweden born American with Lebanese roots built his agency Connect World Football in Sweden. “We realized that we fit together”, explains the man from Gütersloh. In early November he founded his own company to coordinate his cooperation with CWF more professionally and to have a clean bookkeeping. El-Ahmad has the official FIFA license as player agent and by that fulfills the formal requirements to do the job. For the name of his company “3G Sports Services” he made use of the alliteration Goldbecker, Gütersloh, Germany – but in the Internet presence www.cwfootball.com he is called Global Representative. “I do not only cover Germany but also the adjoining countries”, explains Goldbecker.
This also explains how he recently transferred the Canadian Selenia Iacchelli to the Italian Champions League participant Eurospin Torres or the in Sweden active American to a pro contract in the USA. In total Olaf Goldbecker made a hook behind ten transfer in the last weeks, an eleventh is close to be finished. “If there’d be a transfer break each month it would be good for the business”, smiles Goldbecker who is working at the steel trader Amtenbrink. From his extra job he could not live alone but the compensation is fitting according to him.
“We do not approach players, the opposite is the case”, explains Goldbecker the philosophy of the company. According to his estimation there are about 50 players on Bundesliga level who leave college each year but just a small percentage can get a job in the pro league, so there is a huge number of possible clients. Goldbecker also expects several German NT players to go to the USA after the World Cup 2011.
“The market naturally is not as big as in the men’s sector”, says the women’s expert without speaking about a hole in the market. In Germany mainly the company Profipartner 24 from Siegen, led by Dietmar Ness and Bodo Sandrock made a name in the business. They also manage the former Gütersloh player Lena Goessling. Goldbecker does not work with current players from Gütersloh and also does not aim on them.
The negative reputation of player agents in men’s soccer did not catch Olaf Goldbecker yet. “The clubs are thankful when I offer them players”. Obviously there are different rules in women’s soccer. “We do fair deals”, says Goldbecker. He knows that only a successful transfer will result in a new deal. That way he has to hope that exactly the Canadian NT players Brittany Timko (24) and Emily Zurrer (22) he sent to Essen will shoot his ex-club FSV Gütersloh out of the cup competition on February 7. Goldbecker is seeing that without emotions: “The contacts existed before the quarter finals were drawn, and regardless if with or without them FSV is only having outsider chances.”
Timko, Zurrer, Parker, French move to German Bundesliga
Kia McNeil and Elise Weber called up to the USA U-23 Camp

Some of WPS’s brightest young American players will gather at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. from Dec. 13-20 to participate in a U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team training camp. Your CWF Team
Allison Scurich got a new defensive partner with her fellow Jeannette Dyer and the 'Yank Wall' didn't allow a single goal since. Wins at Wörrstadt (3-0), against Duisburg II (1-0) and at Löchgau (2-0) made the club climb to the upper third of the table to rank 4.
LFC wins the Swedish Championship
CWF congratulates Petra Larsson and Sara Larsson for their first ever Swedish League Gold. The 4-0 win over Umeå along with Djurgården beating Kopparbergs/Göteborg on Sunday secured the historical Treble (Super Cup, Swedish Cup, Swedish League) for Linköpings Football Club.
The season is not over yet with a big match up vs. last years WCL winners Duisburg.
Good luck and once again Congratulations !!
Catching up with Kia McNeil
ST. LOUIS, MO (October 28, 2009) – Kia McNeill is never far from a soccer field. The Athletica defender just won’t stay away from the game she loves, and this fall is no different. Even before this past WPS season ended McNeill knew she would be returning to her alma mater, and she would be returning as a coach.
This fall McNeill is working as the assistant coach for the Boston College Women’s team, a team that she played for just two years ago.
“I can really relate and connect with the players on a level that the other coaches may not be able to,” saidMcNeill. “It wasn't too long ago that I was in the shoes of these girls, and I still know what it is like to be a player.”
McNeill’s Boston College squad is currently ranked 8th in the nation. To date they have posted a record of 14-2-1 as they enjoy one of the best seasons in the program’s history. Boston College opened the year with a ten game unbeaten streak in which they scored 37 goals while only allowing one.

Swedish Weekend Re-Cap
LDB Malmö 0-0 Linköping FC
Sara Larsson played full 90 in the battle of the great. Prior to the game both teams were in the running to win the championship. The tie was a bad result for both as LdB Malmö is now to far behind to win the league, while Linköpings lead was reduced to one point.
The Swedish Premier league has never been this exciting and close. Three teams have the chance to claim the gold, LFC, Umeå and Göteborg.
Next up a decisive game as LFC hosts Umeå.
Hammarby IF 2-2 Piteå IF
Jennifer Nobis scored a late equalizer to keep the chance to stay in Premier League alive. 3 points was what Piteå needed but Hammarby was not going to back down. In a very competitive, exciting and even battle the draw seems to be a fare result. Piteå has now 3 points up to Krisitandstad with 2 games to go.
Stephanie Labbe was suspended due to her red card in last weeks game
Jennifer Nobis, played the full 90 and scored in the 83 min.
Scurich, Crailsheim drop in German cup
Improved from last weekend but still without chance TSV Crailsheim dropped in the 2nd leg of the national cup competition in a back to back game against 1.FC Köln. Unlike on Sunday Crailsheim fought back but suffered an expected 2-5 loss. Scurich was moved back to the central defence again. The next game won't be easier, on Sunday they face promotion challenger Bayer Leverkusen.
Linkoping FC wins the Swedish Cup

With a 2-0 victory over Umeå IK, LFC clinched their second consecutive Cup titel. The game was tought, physical with few chanses with both teams batteling inch by inch to gain an adventage. The first 15 minutes UIK dominated but in the 17th minute Caroline Seger was first on a rebound after a corner to give LFC the 1-0 lead.
With a goal up, LFC never looked back as they took over the game with Sara Larsson and Petra Larsson dominating the midfield and Charlotte Rohlin and Faith Ikidi once again proving that they are one of the best centerback pairs in the world.
Beginning of 2nd half Seger found Jessica Landstrøm with a through ball and Jessica made no misstakes as she gave LFC the 2-0 lead. UIK was not able to respond.
Congratulations SARA for your Cup Gold and congratulations LFC!!
Melbourne FC lose 1-0
In their second game with Julianne Sitch at the helm as the team captain, Melbourne FC lost 1-0. We reached out to Julianne for some comments of her own:
"...We lost the other night- big bummer. We are so young...once the girls realized we could play with them, our temp picked up. It was much better. We just need to get these youngens more experienced! It's really good though- I am happy and having fun. I think we'll be a pretty good team for the most part. Wish we were together at training sessions so we could do team defending and attacking. It will get better as games go on..."
LFC escapes with a 1-2 victory
A game that the League leaders dominated turned to be a thriller with a final goal in the 87min. Prior to that LFC took the lead through Kosovare Asllani in the first half. In the 60 minute AIK equalized through a clinical finish by Annika Sjølund.
With 3 minutes left Caroline Seger recieved the ball and cut through the defense with a pass to Jessica Landstrøm who timed her run perfectly and sealed the 3 points.
LFC is still in 1st place with 3 minutes to go.
Sara Larsson played the full 90 as a center back.
Sydney FC wins 2-1

View Tiffany Weimer´s FC Gold Pride blogg interview.
Note: Tiffany has now moved on to Boston Breakers
Candace and Tiffany sign 2010 WPS contracts
The Boston Breakers have agreed to terms with free agents Tiffany Weimer. Weimer played for Head Coach Tony DiCicco and Assistant Coach Lisa Cole at SoccerPlus FC in Connecticut and Sutton signed a short-term contract with the Breakers this past season and played one game with the team. Terms of the deals were not disclosed per team policy. Goal scoring was the main culprit of the Breakers falling short of the WPS playoffs in the 2009 season. The Breakers hope Weimer, a forward, is one of the answers they are looking for in the second season of WPS, as she is expected to contribute as a goal-scorer for the Breakers. “Tiffany Weimer is a proven scorer and one of the most creative and entertaining players I have ever coached,” said DiCicco. “I am delighted that Tiffany will be on this squad and I look forward to getting her fully familiar with the Breakers attacking scheme and teammates.” “I am really excited and honored to be a part of the Boston Breakers organization, especially to play for Tony again,” said Weimer. “Being back in New England, playing in front of my family and friends makes this an incredible opportunity that I am truly thankful for.”
FC Gold Pride (Bay Area) agrees to terms with Chapman FC Gold Pride announced today that the team has agreed to terms with WPS free-agent Candace Chapman (Canada) for the 2010 season. "We're very happy to welcome Candace to the Pride," said FC Gold Pride Head Coach Albertin Montoya. "Candace brings experience, skill and leadership to the team. She's a technically advanced player with exceptional pace and is very strong in the air. She's proven herself at the highest levels of competition both in the WPS and internationally. I'm confident she will have an immediate and positive impact on the way we play." Source, www.womensprosoccer.com to read the full article (press here)

Big Win for Schumacher-Hodge, Unlucky Loss for Scurich
Good nerves were needed for the attendance in Ragsved's match at Mariehem SK. After an early 2-0 lead, the hosts found back into the game and turned it around into a 3-2 lead. Marisha Schumacher-Hodge and her colleagues were able to answer though and finished the game with a 4-3 win. With two games left to play Ragsved's has four points distance to the third last IF Brommapojkarna and climbed from position 9 to 8. Next Sunday the team faces 6th ranked Bollstanäs SK.
TSV Crailsheim and Allison Scurich had less luck this weekend. Against one of the top 3 teams in the league, VfL Sindelfingen, the team was close to reaching a point until a penalty kick in the 84th minute woke them up from their dreams. At least Scurich was able to keep the top striker of the league scoreless. With four points Crailsheim ranks 5th after three games now and travels to 1.FC Köln, the top favourite of the league next Sunday.
Australian League Update
Sydney FC lost their season opener at home 1-3. Both Julie and Cathrine made their debut for Sydney.
Melbourne with Julianne Sitch (team captain) and Katie Thorlaksson won their season opener 2-0 against Lisa De Vana (Washington Freedom) Perth club.
Julianne had an assist and Katie scored one goal
Linköping FC wins 2-0
Another win and LFC is currently on top of the Swedish Premier league. A hard fought 2-0 win over Djurgården keeps LFC in the running to win the championship. With many injuries and many important games in a short period the report is that todays game was not well played. Which at this time does not matter as all that counts is 3 points.
