So this is my first time writing a blog, but I thought that it would be pretty cool to talk about my experiences overseas, and keep people from home updated.

I guess I will start by saying that I am from a really small town in Northwest Ohio outside of Toledo, called Swanton. It was a pretty great place to grow up, but it is an extremely small town.  Some of the most influential people in my life have been from there, many are still there. I don’t know what I would of ever done without them, and their constant support.

I went to college at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina (“The Thrill, Rock Vegas, The WU” all nicknames that people that went there often use haha). It is located about 20 minutes south of Charlotte, North Carolina. Hands down going there was one of the best decisions that I have ever made in my life. The people that I have met , the times I have had, are irreplaceable, with more memories to come. Our school was very culturally diverse, which was also another reason why I loved it. I always have enjoyed hearing about where people are from and their way of life.

I received my confirmation email for my flight to Sweden yesterday. I’m sooo pumped to be going back across the pond!! I’m going to be playing for Kvarnsveden IK in the Swedish Division 1 North. I’ve been talking to a few girls that are also playing there, Sarra Moller mostly, which is really nice since we can both really relate to what is going on and we both don’t speak Swedish, so I have someone to look at and say, “Uhh did you get that?” I have also briefly chatted to Ahkeela, who is from Trinidad, and probably has an awesome accent!

I cannot tell you how long I have always wanted to do this; play the sport I love and explore a new country. I know I need to continue working at it everyday to strive to be the best that I can. I’m currently living in Columbia, South Carolina, about an hour from Winthrop and commuting there to train whenever I can.  I’m living with my college roommate, going on 5 years now, it is awesome, and I’m having a great time! Just continuing to train and work out until April 9th!! I will be moving back to Ohio in a couple weeks to continue training and hopefully get in and play with boy’s teams too.

Skål för en ny början! (Cheers, to new beginnings) -compliments of Google translator :)
