Day 7!!!!!
One week since I have had ACL Surgery! I honestly feel like its taking forever and its only been a week. I have a long ways to go. The crazy thing is I feel like Im improving in everything so quickly! I think that is the best part about the recovery process at an early stage. You def see progress everyday. Its hard once you start to get muslce and you feel likeyour ready to go and you dont see yourself improving anymore. Thats when you really start to feel anxious. I have a long ways to go until I feel that.
Yesterday during therapy a crazy thing happened. I was doing all my straight leg raises (which you cant do enough of) and I looked down at my stitches to see that I have a huge tumor trying to escape through my stitch. My skin was being stretched as far as it could go because this 3 inch bulge was under my stitch. I started to panic and told my therapist to look at this quickly. The fluid in my knee was trying to release out of my medial stitch. The area was hard and bulging. Immediatly my therapist started to massage the area to release the pressure. I SCREAMED! It was the worst feeling to sit through. It looked awesome but now my relaxing knee massage has turned into a painful screaming session hahah!
BUT Today was a breakthrough for me. I am still in my ginormous brace, but they unlocked it. Now I can at least tempt to walk like a normal human being without draggin my huge leg around. And let me tell you....its much easier getting into the car when my brace allows my knee to bend.
I never noticed how friendly people are here in Boston until I tore my ACL. I cant go anywhere without somebody commenting on my knee and how horrible that looks, or trying to crack a joke like......Your knee must be bothering you hahahahah not really that funny! lol. Today I was in Walgreens and as soon as I walked in and made contact with this random customer she blerts out "Dont tell me your on the basketball team". HAHAHAHAH I was like no I hurt myself playing soccer. Then of course I had to go into what I did and all of that but I got to thinking. How random was that comment and what basketball team is this lady talking about??? Good thing out of this intriguing lady the Boston Breakers has a new fan! :) Just too funny.
Overall my knee feels amazing today! Day 7. I get my stitches out next Tuesday and really hoping the Dr says I can start swimming. My body is craving exercise!

HELLO!
I have been back in the states for about a month. I am NY training with my trainer and loving it. Everyday is a challenge and its really hard but I keep thinking of the end result. He has been challenging me in ways i never thought my body could handle. As I mentioned in the last blog he has introduced to me "long gon dola" (this massive hill that never ends) I have ran her about 5 times now. I have pushed myself mentally and physically to get up and down that hill. I have even passed out because of her hahaha. But its an amazing feeling when I realize its getting easier everytime. BUT once I conquer that hill.....he has another one waiting for me. His quote "once I get bored watching you run Lon gon dola...I have another hill that will kick your butt". I also have been doing a lot of plyos and ball work. Everything we do is things I really need to work on. I cant wait to see what I can do when Bostons preseason begins!
Other than training everyday, I am relaxing and enjoying being in NY. I am going to NYC for New Years and going to be there for the weekend. I was in NYC when I was little but dont remember much, so I cant wait to do the typical site seeing and fun adventures. Does anyone have suggestions on great things to experience?
Until Next Time.....

I am finally back in the states! I landed in NY yesterday afternoon. It has only been a day here in the states and I already miss Sweden! THe weather here is much Nicer but I am missing everyone across the Atlantic!
I will be in NY training for the next couple months preparing for the Boston season! Even though the sweden season ended I have a long road ahead of me. BUt its somehting I am really excited for and cant wait for the challenge! I start training again on Saturday.
When my trainer picked me up from the airport he was really excited about the new fitness drills he has instore for me! On the way back to the house he drove by my new best friend.....this HUGE hill that never ends! He told me to get comfortable with her because she will soon become my best friend and we will be spending lots of time together! This is the one thing that I am not excited about hahhaha. To make a terrifying thing a good thing I named the hill Longgondola! The hill is LONG and soon it will be GONE and DOLA just sounds fun and I need something to be a little fun about this! hahahah! It will soon kick my butt!
My experience the last few months have been amazing but its great to be back on a regular schedule training hard for my next season with Boston!

My last week here in Pitea is coming to an end very fast! It is bitter sweet! I am looking forward to seeing my family and friends and getting back to Boston. But I also am going to miss everyone I have became close with here in Pitea!
We lost our last game. Very disappointing because Pitea is now going to go back to Div 1. I truly believe that this team has so much talent and heart that they deserve to stay! If only a few things would of gone our way or something different would of happened in the first half of there season. But I think that they have what it takes to be better than some of the teams that are staying in the top league! Its sad to leave Pitea in this situation!
We have one more game left against Umea. It will be interesting to see if the girls want to show up and play. This team has done well all year I hope we go out and prove to everyone that we can beat a great team!
This last week is going by way too fast. Trying to fit everything in is going to be hard. I have to make sure I get a lot of chocolate, lots of time for shopping, and of course the last week I am here I find that the LF arena has open hours to the public to ice skate! So I am going to do that for sure. haha
But I really just want to make this last week memorable!
Thanks to all our fans for being at every game and supporting us. It was truly fun to play in such a great atmosphere. Thanks to the girls for taking me feel apart of a family. Thanks to the coaches and staff for taking a chance on me and helping me become a better player!
One week left...lets make it a good week!
Hallå Allihopa! (Hello everyone)
We just finished an exciting game against Örebro and won 2-1. We were up 1-0 at halftime. The second half started and they scored within 11 seconds. We played hard for the rest of the half and continued to fight back, winning the game in the 89th minute. It was a huge victory for Pitea because we need as many points as possible in these last six games of the season to remain on top of the league.
I have been playing soccer since I was five, and never have I seen anything like what happened to me in the game on Sunday. I was standing on the sideline in front of the other team’s bench. My team had a throw in and I was waiting for my teammate to get the ball. I was on the line and I felt somebody push me! I turned around to get angry and I noticed it was their coach. Have you ever seen a coach push a player during a game? I was shocked and could not believe what just happened. At the post-game press conference the coach apologized and expressed how great of a player he thought I was. This coach definitely couldn't decide his feelings towards me.
Things are going great outside of soccer as well. I have extra free time so I decided to sign up for some aerobic classes. I just finished my first Yoga class. I didn't understand anytime the teacher said but I kept following him as much as I could. It was an interesting experience because I know the teacher was trying to tell me to relax and clear my mind, but all I could think about was what I was supposed to do next. Yoga was not so relaxing but it is helping me get more fit. Next up is Pilate's, then Body Core and finally, Body Balance. All these classes challenge me.
I just LOVE Sweden. It is so calming and simple. The only problem is that every day I wake up and it is colder than the day before! It has only been two weeks but I’m having the time of my life. Living the Dream!
Phrase of the day
English: No Problem
Swedish: Ingen Problem (pronounced ING IN Problem)
Nigerian: No WAHALA
Miss all of you.

Hey Everyone!
It’s Jennie Nobis, all the way from Pitea, Sweden!
I just arrived here on Tuesday, September 15th. The last few days here have been very crazy. I landed Tuesday afternoon and had to practice that evening. We had an exhibition game on Thursday against UMEA IK. Even though I was jet lagged, the game went really well against UMEA IK. We tied 0-0 and had many great chances to take the lead.
Our team, Pitea IF, has a lot of potential and talent, and I'm looking forward to our first league game next Sunday against Orebro. I am the only American on the team but we have players from Sweden, Canada, Norway and Nigeria, which makes for many different playing styles. It’s a very fun and an interesting team to watch.
Other than soccer, Sweden is a lot different than Boston. I live in a very small town of 22,000 people and everyone speaks Swedish! I speak very little Swedish and everyone stares at me when they hear me speak English. We all know I'm not the quietest person to be around either, so I get lots of interesting looks! I live near downtown Pitea, right off the Pite River, a huge river in Sweden. The scenery around my apartment and the city is beautiful!
The weather here is VERY cold. My coaches have informed me that this is quite warm for Pitea for this time of the year. I ride my bike to practice all bundled up with a hat, scarf, gloves and layers of clothes. You can imagine what a cold and miserable bike ride that is! It is going to take some time getting use to the weather.
The funniest thing that has happened to me since I’ve been in Sweden is my grocery shopping adventure. The food here is a little different than in America, but nothing out of the extraordinary. The trickiest part is taking all that food you bought, putting it into the basket on your bike, and balancing bags off the handle bars! It makes me feel like I don't know how to ride a bike. My adventure continued when I finally got home and put all the groceries away. It was about 7:00 PM so I decided to cook pasta, something quick and easy to make. That is where the funny part came in; I couldn't find my stove!
I looked everywhere. I even started looking in random places like the cabinets, under the sink, and in the pantry. Nowhere to be found. So, on our trip to Umea, I told one of the girls on the team about my problem. They have decided to come over this weekend to help me look for the stove. I have a feeling we won’t be able to find it. What apartment doesn't have a stove?!? I am starting to think that maybe I just don't have a stove and my coaches will need to figure that out soon. It has been a hilarious ongoing adventure for me and my teammates!
Overall I’m happy to say things are going very well here and I'm so glad to be back in Sweden! Soon I will be sending you my updates… maybe in Swedish, which will be something to look forward to! Here are a few of my favorite phrases for the week:
Phrases for the week:
English: Hey, how are you?
Swedish: Hej hej, hur mar du?
Nigerian: How far?
The girls speak very broken English, so when they ask, “How far?” they mean, “How are you?”
So fun to learn their lingo!

Hey everyone! Bad news here for the Boston Breakers. We lost against LA on Sunday. It was a great game to watch and to be apart of but the final score did not agree with us! Its disappointing because we had a great season and great positioning going into the last three games of the season! We just couldnt get a win.
But I would like to congradulate New Jersey on there hard work and getting into the playoffs! It will be fun to watch to see how things turn out!
I am now off to Sweden to play with Pitea IF! I am super excited to go back and to see friends and to continue to imporove for next WPS season!
Hey guys!! So in the last week we have played Sky blue. The outcome for us was not good! We lost 1-0...had good chances just didnt come to the game prepared and was scored on early. The good news it we play them again this sunday AT HOME!!! YEA
So far they are two and two against us. But we have a lot of emotion for this up coming game andhope to come out and do our thing!
Another crazy thing is national team players will be leaving for camp and games. It will be interesting to see how the teams will do without their national team players...so stayed tuned to see the results and who has the best bench!!!.....that is basically what it comes down to hahaha.
Weather has been aweful here in boston! One or two days of sun but every other day is rain and chilly! Hope everyone is enjoying there nice weather because its not too shabby here!
