First and foremost, I apologize for being a little late with this blog. I’m trying to do one every ten days, so feel free to get on my case if I start to slack too much. Time to play catch up.
Preseason is over, finally.
It’s way more fun training each week knowing there’s a game at the end of it. It’s like those Good Humor ice cream cones that have the chocolate at the bottom… you know something great awaits you at the end.
A game is an opportunity to show off all the work you’ve done. So one can imagine what the first game feels like after over a month of training and scrimmages.
Meet and Greet
I never thought I would say this, and I am still reluctant to type it to the world, but Boston fans are pretty amazing. The turnout for our meet and greet was very impressive. Thank you to all who attended.
NYY
My family is hardcore New York Yankees. The Breakers will be the only Boston-based team we will ever cheer for. Ever.
Social Media
We had a meeting about talking to the press and social media. Social media can help our league so much, as we have seen with Twitter and Facebook, but some players still haven’t grasped the idea.
Kristine Lilly is still trying to figure out what it is exactly. “Myface? Spacebook? I don’t know.”
I was thinking maybe we could start a petition online to get Lil on Twitter. What do you think?
Break on Through
We beat the Washington Freedom in our first game of the 2010 season. A year ago, the Breakers were on the other end of their first match of the season. (I guess I should apologize for that). So we are already a step ahead of last year and will continue to build on that.
One more thing: #88
Why?
Twice the player I was last year.
Return to Boston
When we got off the plane from Jacksonville there was a huge welcoming committee with Boston Breakers signs and banners awaiting our arrival and a bus ready to take us to our homecoming parade.
Well not really. But maybe one day.
(And by all means if anyone ever wants to do this, please be our guests… we would love it)
I realize I complain about Boston a lot in my blogs but I promise you it will diminish as I adjust to living here. PROMISE.
Reflecting on Fla.
Most people will say that one win out of four games wouldn’t constitute a successful trip, but our Florida trip WAS successful.
We bonded as a team, on and off the field. We scored goals. We met Tim Tebow. We had sushi. We tried out these state of the art GPS tracking devices, which allowed the coaches to know how much we were running and at what intensities (yes sounds a little stalkerish, but it helps our game). We beat the University of Florida…. Oh, and we had a lot of fun.
Oh and we also played tricks on each other.
Okay… Claire Zimmeck. Seriously the girl doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. But she does have some sneaky ones. She’s one of the “look there’s a stain on your shirt, made you look,” -type of people. And one of the “Tiff, look over here” (with a fist ready for my turned face)-type.
She got me twice. In one hour.
Usually I’m not on the receiving end of jokes like that… so I was a bit taken back and knew I had to act smart… and not fast. So I let the night end with her having the last prank.
The next night I called her room and told her roommate “Claire Zimmerman or Zimmereck or something, had a package at the front desk”
Then I stood in the lobby and watched as she asked for a package that didn’t exist.
Revenge is sweet.
And I love being an adult.
Peace out, Boston ....
Hello, Florida
The University of Florida has been a great host and everything has been really smooth since we’ve been here.
Staying at the Hilton isn’t so bad either.
We have been eating at the cafeteria on the University of Florida campus and I totally remember why I gained 20 lbs my freshman year in college.
We have a lot of interesting people on this team. Details to follow.
Game vs. U20s
We started off a bit slow against the US u-20s, but quickly found our legs and looked impressive for a good portion of the game. It ended up being a 2-2 draw, but we were able to take some negatives and positives from the game.
Positive: we can score goals.
Negative: we need to be more organized defending as a team
Sporcle.com and watching Kristine Lilly’s little one (Sid) run up and down the hallway. The team is completely entertained by her.
Tony in Us Magazine

Not really… but just a reminder that stars do the same things that ordinary people do… like push baby strollers.
Boston...
Hi for new readers and hi again for old readers. For those of you who don’t know, my name is Tiffany Weimer and I play for the Boston Breakers of the WPS.
I am now living in Boston, a whole two and a half hours from home in Connecticut. Since I’ve been in Boston (three days) I have gotten two parking tickets. When I saw the second one I’m pretty sure I shouted out the window that I hated the city of Boston and followed that with a very loud “Go Yankees!” I know some of my teammates heard me, but not sure if anyone else did…probably a good thing. I apologize for my actions.
Anyway, I am adjusting, slowly. I survived my first rotary, barely. I spent a night at Leslie Osborne’s place where the T (the train in Boston) shook the place like a series of mini earthquakes all night and I’ve only gone the wrong way on one one-way street. All in all I’d say that’s a good start.
Preseason
We did the Beep Test in the first 20 minutes of my Boston Breakers career, which was awesome. Big thank you to whoever invented it.
We played 11v11 shortly after the Beep Test and it was great to be back in action. I haven’t played full field in a long time.
I am pretty sure that I have more bruises from that 11v11 game though than I have had all off-season playing in men’s leagues and with boy’s teams. What’s up with that?
Sushi
Leslie Osborne is addicted to sushi and strongly influences the people around her.
Recommendations for new places welcome.
Weather
I am thankful for the bubble at Harvard Stadium. But I can’t wait to go to Florida for some of our preseason.
I like our colors – Go Breakers!
Saw this awesome video combining two of my absolute favorite things in life: Guitar Hero and Soccer http://tiny.cc/OvcCx
I would love to try this one day.
This got me to thinking about the things I enjoy doing in my free time and I realized there was one thing in common about everything I like to do: it's always competitive.
Guitar Hero. Farmville (the ever-so-popular Facebook application). Ping Pong. Bowling. Learning words to songs... I love knowing the words when no one else does. (also includes knowing the name of the song and the artist) I even am competitive with having the most friends on Facebook and the amount of people I have following me on Twitter.
I feel like this competitive nature has helped me become the athlete I am, but I never really realized how I bring this trait to everything I do.
Going back to the soccer/Guitar Hero game. I think that would be a blast. If anyone knows how we can make this happen please send me an email at: tweimer8@gmail.com !! Thank you!!
